The United Kingdom is an island country located in the North Atlantic Ocean, off the western coast of mainland Europe. The coastline is deeply indented, and inland terrain is mostly low and rugged, with plains, hills, and low mountains. In United Kingdom most of the country is used for human activities, in its majority by rainfed agriculture.
The rarity of marine fish and mammals is also high. Challenges to biodiversity include urban air pollution; soil pollution; marine and coastal habitat degradation.
