About Us

The E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Our mission is to reimagine the way we care for our planet. Through the Half-Earth Project, we work to protect half the land and sea in order to manage sufficient habitat to reverse the species extinction crisis and ensure the long-term health of our planet.

Our Values. We care deeply about driving scientific ambition that transforms our understanding of the world and what we need to do to care for it, and believe we have a moral conviction to act to protect biodiversity as one of humanity’s transcendent goals.

To accomplish our mission, the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation established three goals:

  1. Leverage Science: Deliver cutting-edge science and decision-relevant information.
  2. Prioritize Species: Develop and engage around information products that address biodiversity conservation outcomes.
  3. Empower Voices for Biodiversity Conservation: Become an inclusive and best-possible forum for connecting and empowering communities, providing insights and science to advance conservation outcomes, and raising the awareness around the importance of biodiversity to our lives.
