Belgium

Belgium contains several types of landscape, from flat coastal plains in northwest, to central rolling hills and rugged mountains of Ardennes Forest in southeast. The country also includes coastline along the North Sea. In Belgium most of the country is used for human activities, in its majority by rainfed agriculture. The rarity of marine fish and mammals is also high. Belgium is often considered to have one of the world’s highest population densities, and urban pressure is among several challenges to biodiversity. Other challenges include air and water pollution, largely as a consequence of urban development.
