National Report Card: Poland

Poland is located in Central Europe and borders the Baltic Sea along its north coast. Its inland terrain includes flat plains and mountains on the southern border. In Poland most of the country is used for human activities, in its majority by rainfed agriculture. Poland’s rarity of marine fish and mammals is also high. Challenges to biodiversity include air pollution from coal-burning emissions; acid rain; and water pollution.
