Niger is a landlocked country in Western Africa. Desert dominates its terrain, and savannas cross the south. In Niger most of the country is used for human activities, in its majority by rainfed agriculture.
Challenges to biodiversity include overgrazing; soil erosion and desertification; deforestation; water pollution; and wildlife poaching.
