National Report Card: Gambia
The Gambia is the smallest country on the African mainland and borders the Atlantic Ocean in western Africa. Its terrain comprises the floodplain of the Gambia River. In Gambia most of the country is used for human activities, in its majority by rainfed agriculture.
The rarity of marine fish and mammals is also high. Challenges to biodiversity include deforestation; desertification; and water pollution.
