National Report Card: Tunisia
Tunisia is located on the northern coast of Africa, with a border along the Mediterranean Sea. Terrain transitions from mountains in the north Sahara Desert to central plains that meet the Sahara Desert in Tunisia’s south. In Tunisia most of the country is used for human activities, in its majority by rangeland.
The rarity of marine fish and mammals is also high. Challenges to biodiversity include toxic waste; water pollution; limited freshwater; deforestation; and soil erosion and desertification.
