Qatar is a peninsular country that extends into the Persian Gulf in the Middle East. Its terrain is primarily desert. In Qatar most of the country is used for human activities, in its majority by rainfed agriculture. The rarity of marine fish and mammals is also high. Challenges to biodiversity include air, land, and water pollution; and limited freshwater.
