National Report Card: Netherlands
Netherlands is a coastal country in Western Europe, with a northern border on the Black Sea. The country is home to the Rhine River mouth, and most of its terrain lies either below or only up to one meter above sea level. In Netherlands most of the country is used for human activities, in its majority by rainfed agriculture.
The rarity of marine fish and mammals is also high. Challenges to biodiversity include water pollution, including river pollution; and air pollution from vehicle and refinery emissions.
