Moldova is a landlocked country in Eastern Europe. Its land is a rolling steppe that slopes southward to meet the Danube River. In Moldova most of the country is used for human activities, in its majority by rainfed agriculture. Challenges to biodiversity include chemicals pollution in soil and groundwater; soil erosion and poor soil fertility.
