Malawi

Malawi is a landlocked country in southeastern Africa. Its terrain is dominated by a narrow plateau. Lake Nyasa holds more species of fish than any other lake on earth. Most of the country is used for human activities, in its majority by rainfed agriculture. Malawi has high biodiversity rarity of terrestrial land vertebrates at a global scale. When analysed as single taxons, the rarity of amphibians, mammals and reptiles is also high. Challenges to biodiversity include deforestation; water pollution; and silting in fish spawning grounds.
