Kuwait borders the Persian Gulf in the Middle East. Its terrain is flat, desert plain. In Kuwait most of the country is used for human activities, in its majority by urban use. Freshwater in Kuwait is provided by sophisticated desalination facilities.
The rarity of marine fish and mammals is also high. Challenges to biodiversity include limited natural freshwater; air and water pollution; and desertification.
