National Report Card: Estonia
Estonia borders the North Atlantic Ocean at the Baltic Sea and Gulf of Finland. Its terrain is marshy and includes more than 1,500 offshore islands. In Estonia most of the country is used for human activities, in its majority by rainfed agriculture.
The rarity of marine fish and mammals is also high. Challenges to biodiversity include air pollution; water pollution from agriculture; and coastal seawater pollution.
