Half-Earth Day

Half-Earth Day is an annual event observed on October 22nd to raise awareness about the importance of biodiversity conservation and the Half-Earth initiative. It aims to promote actions and discussions on preserving half of the Earth’s land and seas for biodiversity conservation. Half-Earth Day was founded in 2016 by Dr. Paula J. Ehrlich, the current CEO & President of the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation. Half-Earth Day has featured E.O. Wilson, Sir David Attenborough, Razan Al Mubarak, Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, Sean Carroll, Queen Quet, Tom Friedman, Glenn Close, Johan Rockström and more.
