Incredible news: nearly 8,000 acres in south Alabama will be preserved forever, thanks to a purchase from The Nature Conservancy, Patagonia’s Holdfast Collective, and an undisclosed donor. Defined by its streams, swamps, and ox-bow lakes, these wetlands are home to an incredibly diverse array of fish, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. The Mobile-Tensaw Delta is near and dear to the hearts of everyone at the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation, and we’re so proud to see this commitment to preserve its remarkable biodiversity. Mitch Reid, state director for the Nature Conservancy in Alabama, credited the advocacy of E.O. Wilson for this conservation victory. “It was E.O. Wilson and his being from here and sort of championing our natural systems that we have here in Alabama.”
