National Report Card: Sweden
Sweden is located in Northern Europe, with a coast along the Baltic Sea. Most of the country is lowlands, with thousands of lakes, mountains in the west, and subarctic terrain in the north. In Sweden most of the country is used for human activities, in its majority by rainfed agriculture.
The rarity of marine fish and mammals is also high. Challenges to biodiversity include marine pollution; acid rain; air pollution; and harmful timber harvesting.
