Botswana is mostly flat land, crossed by the Zambezi, Limpopo, and Okavango Rivers. The Kalahari Desert crosses Botswana in the southwest. Most of the country is used for human activities, in its majority by rangeland.
Challenges to biodiversity in Botswana include desertification; water insecurity; and air pollution.
