Foundation’s Partnership with the Nicholas School Celebrated with Biodiversity Lectureship, Live Entertainment, and Spirited Auction

The new partnership between the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation and the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University was celebrated at the Washington Duke Inn, in Durham, NC, on Saturday, February 8th.  The event brought together the Foundation and Nicholas School leadership, faculty, friends, and supporters for a lovely dinner, including live entertainment from the Cameron String Quartet and a spirited auction.

As part of the event, Edward O. Wilson delivered the Inaugural James and Cathleen Stone Foundation Distinguished Lectureship in Biodiversity. The evening was co-sponsored by the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation and the Nicholas School of the Environment.

Following his lecture, Edward O. Wilson answered wide-ranging questions from the audience, on such topics as how biodiversity affects the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, synthetic biology and designer genes, and how developing nations can engage with concerns about biodiversity.
