DURHAM, N.C., April 23, 2024 — The E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation has named Dr. Alessandro Catenazzi as its new Half-Earth Chair. Catenazzi is a Swiss-Peruvian herpetologist with a strong interest in conservation biology.

Beyer Introduces Half Earth Resolution On Birthday Of E.O. Wilson

Washington, DC – Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA), author of the Wildlife Corridors Conservation Act, today introduced a resolution in support of the Half-Earth initiative, a proposal advanced by the late Dr. E.O. Wilson. Wilson, who passed away last year, was a famed biologist credited with coining the term “biodiversity.” He was born 93 years ago today.

Wilson Biodiversity Foundation has announced the election of four new members to its Board of Directors including: Caryl Hart, PhD, Dawn Wright, PhD, Keith Tuffley, and Stephen H. Lockhart, MD, PhD. The new Board of Directors’ appointments took place between February of last year and January this year.
