Keynote Topic: Half-Earth Project
Our survival is inextricably entwined with the survival of all species that call our planet home, yet our current destructive trajectory is resulting in mass extinction of species and irreparable damage to our world. With his call-to-action, E.O. Wilson has created the groundwork for one of the grandest conservation efforts of our time, the Half-Earth Project. Join Dr. Paula J. Ehrlich for this keynote address about the Half-Earth Project, which will work to provide the urgently needed leadership and knowledge necessary to conserve half the planet.

We invite you to join the GO3 Project and Estes Park Environmental Center for the 8th International Best of Both Worlds conference in Estes Park, Colorado, bordering one of the most spectacular national parks in the world. Best of Both Worlds (BoBW) was established by the University of South Africa in 1998 and later joined by the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia, Brazil, and now the US. BoBW promotes collaboration across all of the “worlds” that make up our global environmental community. The 8th BoBW conference will focus on current international trends in Environmental Education and Education for Sustainable Development.
BoBW brings people together from different cultures and countries, with varying environmental issues and attitudes, to discuss what Environmental Education means to them and their country. With knowledge of varying viewpoints, we can better understand our collective path forward to a sustainable future.
The conference will be held at the YMCA of the Rockies, which borders Rocky Mountain National Park, one of the country’s most beloved parks. Conference attendees will have the opportunity to explore the park with guided hikes, challenge themselves on a climbing wall and zipline, gather around a fire pit to roast marshmallows with people from around the world, and much more.
Conference workshops will focus on STEM and the use of technology in environmental monitoring, including air pollution monitoring, aerial mapping, wildlife monitoring, and greening your school. We will be offering one Professional Development credit hour through the Colorado School of Mines for interested participants.
