The E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation and the Art.Science.Gallery. in Austin, Texas are partnering on a second art exhibition, following the success of their partnership around the ECLOSION exhibit last fall.
Along with ARKive.org, the Foundation and the Art.Science.Gallery. sponsored ECLOSION—a group exhibition of insect art—from November 9–December 1, 2013, which coincided with the 61st annual meeting of the Entomological Society of America at the Austin Convention Center. A catalogue of the 57 works by 44 artists in now available for viewing online and a print copy is also available for ordering.
“If all mankind were to disappear, the world would regenerate back to the rich state of equilibrium that existed ten thousand years ago. If insects were to vanish, the environment would collapse into chaos.”—E.O. Wilson

The Foundation is pleased to support the Art.Science.Gallery.’s upcoming exhibit, The Year of the Salamander, in conjunction with Partners in Amphibian and Reptile Conservation’s (PARC) designation of 2014 as being the Year of the Salamander.
Art.Science.Gallery. has announced an open call for a group exhibition of artworks inspired by salamanders. The gallery is seeking original artworks about salamanders, including, but not limited to works that address the role of salamanders in the environment, including aesthetic, cultural, economic, educational and scientific aspects of their biology and natural history. Works may also explore datasets about salamander populations, species relationships or biogeography. This exhibition is intended to enhance public understanding of salamanders, their diversity, and the importance of science and conservation. This exhibition will fulfill Art.Science.Gallery.’s missions of supporting emerging and established artists, engaging our community in the sciences through the visual arts, and providing a space for artists and scientists to forge new and collaborative relationships.
