Paula J. Ehrlich to speak during World Biodiversity Summit 2024
September 26 @ 9:45 am - 10:30 am UTC-4
On September 26th, Paula J. Ehrlich, President & CEO of the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation, will speak during a session of the World Biodiversity Summit. The World Biodiversity Summit takes its starting point in the global challenges and the myriads of opportunities presented by the nature-positive and net-zero transition. The 2024 programme will deliver a clear set of conclusions and recommendations across sectors and silos to implement the 2030 biodiversity targets and contribute to the outcomes of the upcoming 16th Meeting of the Conference of Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP16) in Cali, Colombia.
The session, “Taking Stock of Nature Goals: Mapping Progress Towards COP16,” aims to track the progress toward implementing the Global Biodiversity Framework and its 2030 targets ahead of COP16. Decision-makers from across sectors will come together to conduct a comprehensive analysis of our current trajectory and define the pathways to a nature-positive future within the next six years. What has been achieved since COP15? What gaps should we close to accelerate this progress? How are private-public partnerships able to contribute? What steps can businesses take now to meet biodiversity goals?
The topics will include:
🌍 Taking Stock of the Global Biodiversity Framework Implementation
♻️ Carbon Cycle & Planetary Boundaries for Business Strategies
💹 Creating Nature Markets
🔬 Technology and Innovation for Nature
