Sarah Demmel is a history teacher and librarian at Niwot High School in Niwot, Colorado. She sponsors several clubs at NHS, one of them being the Environmental Club. Sarah is passionate about the environment and works with her students to come up with ways to make a difference in the community. With her students, they have adopted a highway, volunteered at the zero waste Colorado University football games, and adopted a polar bear. Sarah became involved with the National Park Service Biodiversity Youth Ambassador Program through her student, Parker. At Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, Sarah and Parker became even more enthused about the BioBlitz program and hope to have a BioBlitz at NHS this year.
