Every year in Octobre on Half-Earth Day®, the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation convenes a gathering of people from around the world and across disciplines to share their perspectives and provide thought leadership on how we can work together to address biodiversity loss and secure a healthy planet for all species and future generations. From updates on crucial habitat restoration projects and exploring the intersection of climate change and biodiversity loss, to sharing community wisdom and new conservation technologies, speakers showcase their contributions and ideas to address the extinction crisis. Sessions also include education themes and educator-focused workshops. Previous speakers have included influential voices like E.O. Wilson, Johan Rockström, Sir David Attenborough, Razan Al Mubarak, Sally Jewell, Cristián Samper, Tom Friedman, Dawn Wright, Paul Simon, Hansjörg Wyss, Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, Queen Quet, and many more.

Half-Earth Day 2023 will be held in Montreal, where governments from around the world convened last year at the United Nations Biodiversity Conference (COP-15) to reach agreement on goals to guide global action to halt and reverse the loss of nature. For more information please visit Half-Earth Day 2023.

During Half-Earth Day, conservationists worldwide reflect on the state of biodiversity and convene through their own channels in partnership with the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation. Half-Earth Day-affiliated events occur regularly across the globe, from Texas to Italy.
