Kristin Oliver is a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill whose passion for nature and the environment began at a very young age. She remembers fondly spending much of her childhood in the outdoors, and harbors a strong belief that coming to know and understand one’s environment is the key to caring for and preserving it. She is currently studying at UNC’s Institute of Marine Science in Morehead City and has recently learned to expand her experience with biodiversity underwater through scientific scuba diving and conducting REEF fish surveys. She feels that the National Park Service Biodiversity Youth Ambassador program is a unique and positive medium for youth to share their knowledge and passion for biodiversity with their peers and inspire that passion in others as well.
